Olinda Elementary is proud to celebrate a sixth-grade student Arie, who recently earned second place at the National Civics Bee Regional Competition held at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library. With this impressive accomplishment, Arie has qualified to compete at the California State National Civics Bee later this summer.

The National Civics Bee challenges students to demonstrate their knowledge of government, citizenship, and community involvement. To prepare, Arie researched a real issue affecting his local community which became the topic of his initial essay and later he devoted significant time to studying the Constitution, American government, and civic engagement.

Arie shared that his favorite part of the experience was competing in the live quiz rounds, where students tested their civics knowledge in front of an audience. He also enjoyed touring the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and meeting students who shared his interest in government and leadership.

This experience has sparked an even greater interest in civics for Arie, who hopes to participate in programs such as Model United Nations and other leadership opportunities in the future.

We are incredibly proud of Arie's hard work, dedication, and academic excellence. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement, and best of luck at the State National Civics Bee competition!
