BOUSD Hosts 4th Annual Clawbot Chaos

On Saturday, April 26, BOUSD proudly hosted the 4th Annual Clawbot Chaos — a high-energy robotics competition that brought together elementary, junior high, and high school robotics teams from across the district and beyond. Students showcased their engineering skills, strategic thinking, and teamwork as they battled it out with their custom-built robots. The excitement was contagious as teams maneuvered their robots through a series of dynamic challenges, cheered on by classmates, family, and friends.

The elementary competition consisted of 38 teams from all seven elementary schools competing in a two vs. two game that involved two teams working together to stack cubes and cones and toss out their opponents rubber ducks.

The secondary competition had 30 teams from Brea Junior High, Brea Olinda High School, Rancho Starbuck Middle School and STEAM Academy competing in a similar game but using the VEX V5 platform.

There were many epic battles and the passion, perseverance, problem solving, teamwork and sportsmanship shown by all the participants was amazing to witness,” said BOUSD Robotics Coach Scott Johnson.

Congratulations to our champions the MathBots and Team Cobra from Brea Online Academy and the Rizzy Turtles and Disappointment 102 from Brea Junior High. It was truly inspiring to see students of all ages demonstrating creativity, perseverance, and technical expertise.

A huge thank you to all the students, coaches, volunteers and supporters who made this event such a success. We are so proud of our future engineers, programmers and innovators!
