Brea Olinda Unified Appoints Joshua Porter, Ed.D. as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources

The Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua Porter, Ed.D. as the District’s new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. The Board of Education formally approved his appointment during its November 6 meeting.

Dr. Porter returns to BOUSD with more than two decades of experience in education, including four years as Principal of Brea Olinda High School (2020–2024). He began his career as a volunteer in a third-grade classroom and has since held numerous teaching and leadership positions. Most recently, he served as director of Educational Services for the Fullerton Joint Union High School District, where he oversaw curriculum and instruction, Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) development, state and federal program compliance, district advisory committees, and staffing across seven high schools.

Throughout his career, Dr. Porter has focused on developing effective staffing models, strengthening teaching and learning, and creating sustainable support structures that allow all students to thrive.

His people-centered leadership will lend itself to advancing our district’s mission of excellence through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to student achievement.”

Porter holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, Fullerton, and earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. 

Following this appointment, the District will determine Dr. Porter’s official start date, in partnership with Fullerton Joint Union High School District.
